Technical watch specialist Breitling has a long and illustrious association with aviation and continues this relationship today by cooperating with the world’s elite pilots. In particular, Breitling has supported Yves “Jetman” Rossi, who is the only man to fly with a rigid wing equipped with for four jet engines. In May 2012, Jetman set out to fly over the city of Rio de Janeiro - a world’s first.
THE CHALLENGE
Breitling had enlisted specialist aerial photographers but needed a partner to provide additional photographic coverage of this historical event and distribution of images to the media on a global scale.
With a predicted flight time of around 11 minutes and a starting altitude of 4,000+ feet, there would be limited time to capture the perfect shots, meanwhile, the event had been delayed twice previously due to poor visibility – and the weather would continue to be a challenge.

Two photographers provided coverage from multiple locations on the ground—ones that would maximize media interest, such as Christ the Redeemer and Copacabana Beach.
