TAIWAN BRAISED PORK RICE FESTIVAL HELD BY THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE, MOEA

Taiwan’s street food “Braised Pork on Rice”, the “National Rice” of Taiwan. The No.1 must eat cuisine in Taiwan.

 

Taiwan is a gourmet kingdom. You can see different kinds of cuisine everywhere. Among of the different cuisines, "Braised Pork on Rice" this local flavor dish has been the most favorite one throughout whole Taiwan. It is also reported by the international media, which said that it is the No.1 must eat cuisine in Taiwan.

In Taiwan, you can see “Braised Pork on Rice” in street vendors, classic five star hotels, and even serve as a banquet cuisine. That’s the reason why the Department of Commerce of Ministry of Economic Affairs wants to promote Braised Pork on Rice – “National Rice” to be the main point of this year’s promotion.

People assume that some people can’t afford big piece of meat back in the old days. They can only have this kind of big chunk of meat when they pay their respect to ancestors regularly every year. On a normal day, they would just ask the vendor for some leftover minced meat to braise it with soy sauce and other ingredients. Later, this cuisine turned out so delicious that it became a common dish throughout in every street vendors.

Taiwan has millions of braised pork on rice stores that have been through with Taiwanese people generations after generations. During these days, some insist the traditional flavor, and some put in new creative elements. Every store has its own features. It’s unnecessary to compare with each other because everyone has their own No.1 braised pork on rice in their heart!

When I was a kid, my grandmother would cook a pot of marinated minced pork sauce for us to go with rice. Our neighbors were very envy of us, that’s the reason now I want to start this business and let our customers have a chance to try this delicious sauce.

Red Quinoa is often called “super food and the ruby of the grains” because of the nutritional value. After cooked with the rice that is from Taitung, we stew the pork blade shoulder and add in some lean pork meat to make the sauce not that greasy, and use the fat underneath the pork skin to bring out the rich flavor of the whole dish.
