CRYSTAL SERENITY ARRIVES IN NEW YORK AFTER HISTORIC NORTHWEST PASSAGE VOYAGE

Crystal Cruises’ award-winning luxury ocean ship, Crystal Serenity, completed its historic 32-day voyage through the historical Northwest Passage when it arrived in New York City on Friday, Sept. 16, becoming the first large luxury cruise ship to traverse the Arctic route that connects the northern Atlantic and Pacific oceans. With more than 1,000 guests and 600 crew members on board, the largest number of travelers to traverse the once impassable route, Crystal Serenity left Seward, Alaska on August 16 for a 32-day journey. The luxury expedition itinerary included port calls in Ulukhaktok, Northwest Territories; Cambridge Bay and Pond Inlet, Nunavut in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, and featured rare wildlife encounters, rugged treks on icy waters, insightful visits to remote communities and immersive onboard enrichment from some of the world’s top expedition experts. 

The trip involved more than three years of planning and careful collaboration with the local communities of the Arctic.
